I went to Pumpkinfest this past weekend in Port Elgin. Its great! They have a classic car show downtown on Saturday and Sunday. The downtown is closed off but there is a free shuttle that runs from the local golf course. They also had a petting zoo with goats, a donkey, pony and a lamma for the kids. There are also rides, dog show, music groups singing and a craft show. There was a booth at the craft show from a new store in Walkerton that sells natural bath products. I got to meet the owner and look at her products.
They have farmers bring in their largest pumpkins. Some of them weigh over a 1000 pounds! Then someone carves faces on them.
If you decide to go next year, dress warm. It almost always rains or even snows during Pumpkinfest.
Now the main part of Pumpkinfest is downtown. Unfortunately it has been downsized a little but its still worth seeing.
